IL-KANTUNIERA

The main aim of the Project ‘Il-Kantuniera’ is to reach out to active citizens, to celebrate them, give them a platform and above all else make them feel appreciated for the hours they put towards their communities. The idea is that there will be two trains of community development. The first one will be working online to raise awareness about the daily lives of people who work in communities and provide something for society. The struggles of working in NGOs, the struggles and challenges met by clubs, and non-profits in achieving their aims and keeping traditions alive.

The second part will be the actual act of getting people together in one place to work towards one aim. That of discussing in a civil manner and debate civilly the concepts put in front of them. This project has the aim which is twofold: to organize a physical space for meeting and then to provide the opportunity to debate and discuss. The inspiration for this project comes from Speakers Corner in Hyde Park, where we will get NGOs to come together and organize debates on hot topics and real situations in Malta. The idea is to take over a physical location and provide a respite from the usual fast life we live on and give a chance for people to connect between themselves on a different level than before.
